Ambrosia Fruit Salad

I have loved this recipe ever since I was very young. I hope you do too.
Ingredients:
fruit
2 large cans fruit cocktail
1 medium can mandarin oranges
1 can pitted dark red cherries (not pie filling)
1 large can pineapple tidbits
1 apple, chopped and squeezed with lemon to prevent from turning colour
1 cup green grapes, halved
1/4 cup desiccated coconut
1-1/2 cups coloured marshmallows
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
dressing
1 8 ounce block cream cheese at room temperature
3/4 cup sour cream
1 small jar marshmallow cream
1 tablespoon orange or pineapple juice
garnish with freshly grated nutmeg approximately 1/4 tsp.
Directions:
1. Drain all fruit, and rinse cherries.
2. Combine all fruit and other ingredients in a large bowl.
3. Mix ONLY the dressing ingredients together with a mixer or hand whisk.
4. Add to the fruit and gently fold with a wooden spoon.
5. Refrigerate for at least 5 hours.
6. Note: Bananas do NOT work well in this fruit salad.
7. You can always substitute other fresh fruit of your choice ie. watermelon/cantaloupe/honeydew etc.
